Ces différences sont « associées en partie au score total au VEQ » et cette recherche permet de mettre en évidence chez les adultes autistes des facteurs de vulnérabilité importants, mais parfois peu étudiés, comme la violence domestique, le contact avec les services sociaux (en tant que parents), et les difficultés financières. Confirmant la sensibilité accrue des adultes autistes aux divers « aléas négatifs » de l’existence (en particulier les difficultés professionnelles et les problèmes économiques ), cette étude souligne le besoin de réduire cette vulnérabilité en améliorant la prise en charge des sujets concernés : soutien psychologique, protection sociale…
